  • Wednesday Lectures

We are very proud of our links with the University; the Vice Chancellor is our President and several lectures are given by senior academic staff throughout the year.  We are continually grateful for their support and assistance.

These lectures are completely free to our Members.  We welcome new visitors to our lectures.  You are able to attend 1-2 lectures or groups before joining.  Please remember to join or renew membership as soon as you can.  Failure to do so will affect our indemnity insurance and our privileged use of the excellent facilities at Swansea University.  You will be asked to sign in on arrival so that we can check your membership.

Recent topics have varied from "Victorian Wit and Humour" to "Swansea in the Great War"   and "The WNO Spring Programme with Musical Extracts" to  "The Great German POW Escape from Island Farm Bridgend”  Our programme ends in June and we publish a full programme in August of every year.

Non members can see an example programme.  Members can log in to see the current lectures.

Transport:

There is no parking at the University.  The nearest parking is at the Recreation Ground, behind The Pub on the Pond or in Sketty - it is a pleasant walk into the University.

There is plenty of access by bus from the town centre and there are also good services to the University from Oystermouth, Killay, Morriston and Gowerton - click here to find an easy to use bus route planner for the university.

Future Lectures:
We are always on the lookout for speakers for next seasons lecture programme.  If you would be interested, or know of someone else who would be interested, in giving us a lecture please contact us using the link below.
